This is the last (but not least!) part of Andzia’s trilogy – the skype problem … and the final episode which made me decide to move out from her. Of course it doesn’t mean I hadn’t seen her anymore! There were many, many strange situations connected with Andzia, even after that, but I don’t have as much time as I wish to present all of them. My new roommate was Ola , which neither was boring. She was quite different than Andzia, for sure, but every day when something weird happened I thought ‘I’ll make a comic about it!’
I’m slowly going to tell you why I moved out from Andzia. The heating problem is another reason after the mess (see–> ‘Addicted to Facebook’). It’s not all, but I can say that it’s because of totally different lifestyle.
Of course, as far as I remember I tried to make Andzia dress warmer, but she felt uncomfortable or sometimes… she just forgot to do it… _-_
Oh, right! The Easter is coming! I will upload more Easterish comic after that holiday (if something weird happens, but it everyday does 😉 ). Actually, I can’t celebrate Easter this year, because I have to go to work all holidays long T.T
However I hope all of you, my Dear Followers, will have a great time with your families and friends. I wish you Happy Easter filled with weird things (but in positive meaning) 🙂
I think this one is much more in my style and somehow I like this story (maybe because it’s about me 😛 ). I know that Women’s Day was on 8th March, I really wanted to upload it earlier, but the pope election seemed to be more important.
The Women’s Day in Poland is celebrated a little like the Mother’s Day and the Valentine’s Day mixed together. Most of us don’t remember that originally it was held because of the feminists and their fight for women’s rights, so that day was established to thank and respect women.
Nowadays, Polish men are ‘complaining’ that they want similar day for them. Actually, there is the Boy’s Day on 10th September, but it’s mostly celebrated by teenagers and to tell the truth it’s not so popular as the Women’s Day. You know, if you forget about your boyfriend, he eventually forgive you, but if you forget about your girlfriend she will kill you 😉 What is more, adult males don’t celebrate it, because they don’t consider themselves as boys…
The Men’s Day was established in Trinidad and Tobago (Middle America) mainly to give some gender balance and highlight positive role of males in our society. However, there is no tradition of celebrating this day in Poland, but some media are trying to make it celebrated, so the date of 10th March was offered. The date is not accidentally chosen, because the Polish Catholic Church celebrates the memory of the 40 Holy Martyrs from Sebasty on that day! — remember, if it’s Poland and you don’t know what the reason of something is, it always has something to do with the Church 😀
I don’t think the Men’s Day would be so popular as the Women’s Day is. Of course, men should be respected, because the society owes to them a lot, our world wouldn’t be the same without them, but it hasn’t such strong origin and males had their rights from the very beginning (in mooost countries) so there’s nothing new, nothing to commemorate. Oh sorry, I forgot! There is! – the 40 Holy Martyrs from Sebasty! I feel really sorry for the Polish men >:]
There is another story which had taken place in Japan in our dormitory. As usual I couldn’t make Andzia clean the room. I ‘ve already tried everything: aksing, begging, threatening and at least I offered her that I’d clean instead, for money. It didn’t work. Andzia tried really hard to make herself do it, but after a while she gave up…
I don’t know if translation is correct, but I think this comic needs an extra explanation.
An androgyne is a person, who has got a combination of both sexes, or a lack of both. Not always has something in common with hermaphroditism. It can be even a person who does not think about herself/himself as a man, nor a woman, sometimes it’s a person who doesn’t care if looks like a girl or a boy, because every option is ok for her/him. I don’t know much about them, but I’ve heard recently they are very popular, especially in the world of fashion.
What is more, for long before it was heard about the androgynes, there’ve been many subcultures, which were ‘fighting’ with others. Today we have metals (heavy-metal fans), emos (who tend to be sad and cut themselves with the razor blades) and etc… In Poland there is one, very troublesome subculture, called ‘dresy’ (literally ‘track-suits’), but they are a little similar to English ‘chavs’. They use bad words, devastate a public property and seem to be not very intelligent. They also tend to hate the police and slogans such as ‘F*** the police’ or ‘D**k in the police’s a**’ are characteristic for them.
Ok, why toilets? In my country weird things often happen, you know ^^ Once, there were only feminists fighting for their rights, but now everybody does. Sometimes it is really reasonable, but sometimes people ask for stupid things just to feel special. It was true that some androgynes in Poland wanted to have the separate public toilets, because they don’t feel woman, nor man. I just thought it’s funny and decided to create a comic, where everybody wants a separate toilet only for people similar to them. If it really happened, there’d be sooo many toilets, that most of people wouldn’t know where to go 😛
Two new characters appear in this episode: Ola and Jin. You can read about them more on the ‘Characters’ side page.
This one was made recently, so quality is a little different from the previous ones.
Hotei’s another visit. This time my friends were making the Polish dumplings, called ‘pierogi’ and I was talking with my mom on Skype.
I can’t believe that I hadn’t noticed that Andzia didn’t even turned her computer and Skype on – it was because it HAD been already turned on… Anyway, Andzia’s Skype stories would be another time.
